This past week Cathy has treated us to several candlelight dinners. Now, if you have ever eaten any of Cathy's home cooked food you know it is always excellent. The meals this week were no exception, so I thought the candlelight was a little excessive. After a quick glance outside at the light on the porch I realized why we were eating by candlelight. We were being attacked by millions of flying termites. The termites swarm to the lights and look for new areas in which to build new termite nests. If there is a light on in the house they will find any crack or hole and craw through in attempt to get closer to the light. They make a terrible mess when they shed their wings and eventually die over the next day or two. Our security guards love to collect the termites, fry them up and eat them. I have not had the privilege of eating this meal of termites and will probably find a good excuse to skip any invitation.
Also this past week we had some thieves break into our church. They used a post to break open a window and tear it out of the building. They then entered in and stole a plastic 50 gal drum. That was it. The drum was donated by a friend who works at a Pepsi plant. Repairing the window cost me about $30. Everyone who heard about it thought it was hard to believe that someone would steal from God. I pray that God will be glorified through it all.
On Sunday, I preached at the Bible Baptist church in Arusha. We had a wonderful time even though all of us had colds of some degree. I had a cough and a stuffy head but the Lord gave me strength during the message. I am thankful that a few people came forward to pray.
We have just a little more than 2 weeks before we leave for furlough. We are getting very excited even though we still have a ton of work to do.
